Buddha explained that all our problems and suffering arise from negative and confused states of mind, and all our happiness and good fortune arise from positive and peaceful states of mind.
Buddha taught methods for gradually overcoming negative states of mind such as anger and jealousy and developing positive minds such as love and compassion. When we learn to apply these methods, we will come to experience lasting feelings of peace and happiness.
These methods will work for anyone, in any country, at any age. Once we have gained experience of them for ourselves we can pass them on to others so that they, too, can enjoy the same positive benefits.
The Buddhist way of life – loving kindness, peace and wisdom – is just as relevant and beneficial today as it was when Buddha lived and taught more than 2600 years ago.
